What We Clean (And What We Don’t)

The Environmental Services (ES) team, part of CU’s Housing Facilities Services department, works hard to keep the public spaces in the CU Residence Halls clean and sanitary. Eco-friendly “green” cleaning methods are used whenever possible for cleaning in the Residence Halls. In restrooms, a hospital-grade disinfectant is used on all hard surfaces.

What We Clean

ES cleans all common areas in the residence halls including hallways, stairwells, lobbies, lounges, laundry rooms, and study rooms. Community restrooms are attended to daily and trash/recycling are taken out.

Exterior windows are cleaned each summer and carpets within the Residence Halls are shampooed annually. Additional carpet cleaning can be performed due to spills or other accidents, but this may incur charges.

ES also takes care of basic supplies in common area restrooms including toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and hand sanitizer. Supplies for restrooms inside suites or apartments must be purchased by the resident(s).

What We Don’t Clean

ES does not clean occupied student rooms or the restrooms inside suites or apartments. Vacuum cleaners and basic cleaning supplies may be available to check out from the 24-Hour Reception Desk if you need to do some cleaning in your room or apartment.
